Dolby Atmos, developed by Dolby Laboratories in 2012, was initially designed for movie theaters and broadcast. However, it wasn’t until 2020 that the technology was embraced by the music industry, with streaming services beginning to offer music mixed in Dolby Atmos. Today, platforms like Apple Music, Tidal, and Amazon Music stream music in Dolby Atmos, featuring a rapidly expanding catalog of tracks crafted with this immersive technology.
Do I need anything special to enjoy music in Dolby Atmos?
As demonstrated in the examples above, you don’t need any special equipment—your regular pair of headphones is enough! Dolby Atmos seamlessly translates a spatial mix created on multiple speakers into what’s known as a binaural version.
If you’re subscribed to Apple Music, Tidal, or Amazon Music, you already have access to thousands of songs mixed and mastered in Dolby Atmos!
For an even more immersive experience, a variety of Atmos-enabled devices are available, including soundbars, home theater systems, TVs, Bluetooth speakers, laptops, and more. Each device “spatializes” the sound uniquely, creating a distinctive listening experience.
At WeMasterMusic, we’re equipped with a state-of-the-art 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos system, ready to bring your music to life like never before!
